JOB TITLE: Assistant Duty Officer

HOURS: Variable – to be discussed

Hourly rate: £9.50

 

REPORTING TO: Senior Duty Officer

DIRECT REPORTS: No direct reports

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Carry out/assist with room set ups and changeovers

  • Assist customers with enquiries

  • Cover Reception during evening/weekend shifts

  • Open the Centre as and when required

  • Check, lock and alarm the Centre when leaving (evenings/weekends)  

 

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Set up/break down various events from small meetings to parties and conferences etc. This role involves manual handling, including moving/setting up/packing away chairs & tables etc.

  • During evenings/weekends, be the main contact (and on occasions the only contact) within the building for queries and customer requirements

  • Cover Reception during evening/weekend shifts

  • Deal with any other matter that would facilitate the smooth running of the Allendale Community Centre, or as may reasonably be required by the Centre Manager or the Management Committee

  • Open the Centre as and when required

  • Check, lock and alarm the Centre when leaving (evenings/weekends)

  • Attend training courses when required and complete all the appropriate Health & Safety requirements for the role

 

The rota for this role is prepared a month ahead and times to be worked will depend on our booking schedule. Some evening or weekend working is likely to be required.

Previous Experience (preferred, not essential)

  • Customer service experience

  • Experience of working in public buildings

JOB TITLE: Caretaker

HOURS: Variable – to be discussed

Hourly rate: £8.25

 

REPORTING TO: Senior Duty Officer

DIRECT REPORTS: No direct reports

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Carry out caretaking and light maintenance duties throughout the Allendale Community Centre

  • Clean and manage storage areas, furniture and equipment and provide cover for our Cleaning Officer

  • Carry out/assist with room set ups and changeovers when required

  • Open/lock and alarm the building as and when required

 

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Complete weekly Fire Alarm check and advise Centre Manager and relevant authority of any issues identified

  • Complete monthly emergency light check and provide feedback as per required procedures

  • Check other lights throughout the Centre; fit new bulbs where required; log any maintenance/repairs that require external action 

  • Check toilet facilities and carry out maintenance required on the fixtures and fittings; log any maintenance/repairs that require external action

  • Complete regular checks on furniture; fix any issues identified or log any items that require further action 

  • Check roof area regularly and keep drains clear of leaves throughout the year

  • Clean/clear weekly or as required Minster Hall stage area including backstage, walkways and wings; log any maintenance completed or required

  • Clean store rooms, Quarter Jack kitchen and Minster Hall mezzanine floor area and check all furniture and equipment within; log any maintenance completed or required

  • Carry out weekly deep clean of the Little Otters soft play area

  • Maintain the appearance of external areas of the building/surrounding areas, keeping them generally clean and tidy

  • Clean windows (at ground floor/stepladder height) and internal areas including door frames and skirting boards

  • Ensure that Health & Safety issues and all WDCA policies are strictly adhered to at all times

  • Provide holiday/sick cover for Cleaning Officer

  • Carry out/assist with room set ups and changeovers when required
