Originally known as Wimborne Community Food Supply, it was set up during Covid to supply home cooked meals and provisions to those in the community who needed help in a time of crisis. It's staffed by volunteers who serve recipients from the Green Cabin adjacent to Allendale Community Centre. Members are learning disabled or neurodivergent adults. They work with professional theatre facilitators on drama, movement, film and writing, often about objects in the museum. This leads to original performances at MED as well as further afield. Their work has been highly acclaimed, giving them a great sense of achievement. We have representatives from various organisations around town and several volunteers. We also arrange training in Dementia Awareness for local businesses and organisations. We raise awareness of the large number of activities available through the publication of Living Well Magazine, which is distributed to many locations in Wimborne. This lists suitable activities under such headings as: craft groups, carer support, social groups, lunch clubs, music and many more. The magazine also contains articles which could be of interest to older people living in the community. Wimborne Gardening Club is a thriving club with around 70 members, launched in 2023, following the demise of the former Wimborne Horticultural Society whose roots have been traced back to 1856. The Club now runs both a Spring and Late Summer Show and holds monthly meetings and an outing once a year. Single membership is £18.00 per year, £27.00 for a couple. A number of fundraising events are held each year and we are grateful for the generosity and support we receive from so many. Most Monday mornings volunteers in the town clean litter, weed pavements and brush up leaves. In 2012 the town won Best Small Town in the National in Bloom Competition. The Wimborne-Valognes Twinning Association has been in existence since 1968, and has been holding exchanges visits every year, alternating between our two towns. We began as an “Evening WI” but after Covid changed to “Mornings” which better suits our Members. We also changed our name to “Wimborne Minster WI”. We meet in the Catholic Church Hall, Lewens Lane at 0950 on the 3rd Monday of the month. The WI was formed to “Educate and Support Women of all ages”. Outdoor banners Roadside frames by Hanham Road For regular (weekly/monthly) hires: We can display your banner, on rotation with other regular hire banners. These are usually placed on the rear of the roadside frame. Required banner size is 5ft wide (left to right) x 3ft high (top to bottom) (152cm x 91cm) . For other locations, maximum size is 5ft wide (left to right) x 3ft high (152cm x 91cm) . We will mount the banner for you. For events: Event banners can also be displayed, when space allows. R equired banner size is 5ft wide (left to right) x 3ft high (top to bottom) (152cm x 91cm) . These are displayed facing Hanham Road, whenever possible. We will mount the banner for you. Charges: There is no charge to display one banner on the roadside frames, when space allows. Displaying a second banner (likely to be on the Café railings or fence) attracts a charge of £6 per week.
